Love: The Greatest of All

As we begin the new year, let’s consider this!

Imagine speaking in tongues and operating in great prophetic gifting and yet being counted as having achieved nothing! According to 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, this is the trap any believer who fails to walk in love risks falling into. In other words, count any good thing not done out of love as if it was never done (verse 3). It accomplishes nothing.

Love is essentially the nature of God and the basis for salvation (John 3:16). God gives us love and expects everyone begotten of Him to reflect His love. “We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Paul also taught that love will outlive both faith and hope, it is eternal. Jesus taught in (Matthew 22:37-40) that love is the foundation of the two greatest commandments: first for God and second for one’s neighbor. Love should be the basis of every work or service that you will ever take or render, to both God and man, as a believer.

Among believers, speaking the truth without love results in criticism instead of correction. It is love that makes you create excuses for people’s mistakes and give them a chance to grow and do better, just as God does with us. Whenever you face a situation, ask the Holy Spirit to help you judge the matter from the eyes of love.

According to 2 Timothy 1:7, the believer has been given the Spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. We further learn from Romans 5:5 that the Holy Spirit has poured the love of God into the hearts of believers. As a believer, you already have the spirit of love, and as you go through the year 2023, dispense it!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
